What did you really make on that car?

The number that matters on every vehicle is not the sale price. It is the sale price minus everything you put into it — and most of that happens after you buy it.

A worked example:

  • Purchase: 720,000
  • Mechanical work: 48,500
  • Paint and body: 22,000
  • NTSA transfer: 11,400
  • Broker commission: 15,000
  • Fuel and showroom time: 9,600

That is 826,500 in total cost. Sell it for 1,050,000 and the profit is 223,500 — not the 330,000 the gap in the two big numbers suggests.

Yard Ledger keeps those costs against the vehicle as you spend them, so the profit is there before the car leaves the yard.
